Girls Cross Country Place Fourth at SCHSL State Championship, Hannah Sawyer Runner-up

The girls cross country team competed at the SCHSL State Championship meet on Saturday November 4th.  The meet was held at the Clemson Sandhills Research Center in Columbia, SC.  The girl’s team placed fourth overall with 141 points.  Placing first was Waccamaw with 64 points, May River second with 114, and Bluffton third with 129 points, Indian Land fourth with 141 points, and Palmetto fifth with 149 points.  The Warriors teams finish of fourth ties the school best placing at the state meet.  The warriors finished fourth in 2015 as an AA team.

Leading the Warriors was sophomore Hannah Sawyer who placed runner up in the girls AAA race with a time of 19:49.  This is the highest finish ever for a girl in school history for cross country.  Hannah also made All-State for finishing in the top fifteen overall.  Kaitlyn Rodman placed twenty-first with a time of 21:41. Lauren Sizemore placed twenty-seventh with a time of 21:53.  Baileigh Sizemore thirty-sixth 22:23, Adriana Wilson fifty-fifth 23:10, Mattie-Baile Tripp 24:32, and Sara Valle 24:41.
