The girls cross country team competed in the Region IV AAA Cross Country Championship on Wednesday October 18th at Camden Historic Park. The lady Warriors placed first with a score 18 points, Camden second with 42 points, and Chester third with 84 points. This is the second straight Region IV AAA championship title and overall the seventh straight region title for the lady Warriors.
In the girls varsity race Sophomore Hannah Sawyer placed first overall with a time of 19:59. Kaitlyn Rodman finished second with a time of 20:13. Lauren Sizemore placed third 20:41, Baileigh Sizemore fifth 21:41, Adriana Wilson seventh 22:44, Mattie-Baile Tripp eighth 22:53, and Sara Valle tenth 23:00 also competed for the team in the Varsity race.
The following girls placed in the top seventh overall in the meet and were named to the All Region Team. Hannah Sawyer first, Kaitlyn Rodman second, Lauren Sizemore third, Julia Keen fourth (Camden), Baileigh Sizemore fifth, Heather Woolard sixth (Camden), and Adriana Wilson seventh.
Leading the Warriors in the junior varsity race was Gabriella Wilson who finished with a season best time of 23:23. Blakely Hardin 23:54, Jada Burnette 24:23, Grace Yegge 25:08, Leyah Nevo 25:54, Jolie Garmon 26:24, Julia Brown 26:33, Caroline Romack 29:26, and Matheson Cox 30:28 also competed for the team.
The Warriors next meet is the Lower State Qualifier on October 28th held at Darlington Middle School campus. The top ten teams will qualify for the State Championship meet on November 4th.
