Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls Place Third at Lower State Meet

The girls cross country team competed at the AAA Lower State meet held at Darlington middle school on Saturday October 28th.  The meet is a qualifier for the State Championship held on November 4th.  Teams finishing in the top ten will qualify for the State Championship meet.  Indian Land placed third out of sixteen teams. Waccamaw won the meet with 45 points, May River second 58, Indian Land third 79, Bluffton fourth 94, Pelion fifth 153, Bishop England sixth 196, Camden seventh 218, Aynor eighth 261, Gilbert nineth 263, and Georgetown tenth 274 qualified for the State Championship meet by finishing in the top ten teams overall.


Leading the Warriors was sophomore Hannah Sawyer who won the meet overall placing first with a time of 19:49.  Kaitlyn Rodman placed twelfth 21:12, Lauren Sizemore twenty-first 21:34, Adriana Wilson twenty-second 21:38, Mattie-Baile Tripp twenty-third 21:38, Sara Valle 22:02, and Baileigh Sizemore 22:30 also competed for the team.


The girls team will travel to the SCHSL State Championship on Saturday November 4th.  The meet will be held at the Sandhills Clemson Research Center.
