The Indian Land Cross Country team competed at the South Pointe home meet on Tuesday September 15th. The girl’s team placed first with a team score of twenty-four points. South Pointe placed second with thirty-eight and Catawba Ridge third with seventy-three points. The boy’s team placed first out of four teams with forty-one points. Catawba Ridge was second with forty-eight points, Lancaster third with fifty-six points and South Pointe fourth with sixty-nine points.
Leading the girls in the varsity race was freshman Olivia Morales who placed first overall with a season best time of 22:13. Rachel Graham placed third with a time of 22:40. Mattie-Baile Tripp placed fourth with a time of 23:24. Caprielle Terry finished seventh with a time of 23:51. Rounding out the top five or the team was Senior Lauren Sizemore who placed ninth overall with a time of 25:19. Anna Urquhart 25:42 and Allison Basik 25:52 also competed for the team.
Leading the boys in the varsity race was junior David Pohlheber who placed third overall with a season best time of 19:24. Jaxon Barringer finished sixth overall with a time of 19:29. Brian Adams finished ninth overall with a time of 20:09. Maddox Yegge 20:11, Ben Caroll 21:13, Asael Gonzalez 22:04, and Liam Bayley 22:59 also competed for the team.
In the girls’ junior varsity race eighth grader Isabella Kiger led the team with a runner up finish with a time of 28:29. Julia Brown finished fourth with a time of 30:32. Madelyn Little finished with a time of 33:16.
In the boys junior varsity race Jose Bravo led the team to a ninth place finish overall with a time of 23:30. Alexander Krull placed tenth with a time of 24:17. Kohen Redmond 24:31, Simon Cherry 25:13, Chase Hullinger 29:17 and Ivan Mercado 36:13 also competed for the team.
The Warriors next meet is on Tuesday September 22nd at Lancaster high school. The meet begins at 5:30pm.
