5/31 – 7/22 MON-TUE-WED-THUR – 8:00-10:30 AM
PLAYERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ¾ OR 75% OF THE WORK OUTS. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL REQUIRE PLAYERS TO RUN 1 MILE IN UNDER 8 MINUTES FOR EVERY WORK OUT UNDER 75%.
The weight room will be closed May 30, July 4, and July 22-28.
YOUTH CAMP – June 7-9 – TUE-WED-THUR – 6:00-8:30 PM (ages 8 & up – $50 per child)
This camp is a fundraiser to help the football program purchase equipment.
MINI CAMP – June 21-23 – TUE-THUR – 3:00-8:00 PM (free)
all JV & Varsity players need to attend mini-camp
OL/DL CAMPS – (Limit 20 each camp) June 17 @ Clover H.S. & June 29 @ Lugoff-Elgin H.S. ($20 each camp due by June 1)
PC CAMP – July 12-14 – TUE-WED-THUR – varsity skill players only ($150 due by June 15)
ACADEMICS – NO F’s Second Semester. If you have an F average in a class, you will not be allowed to participate in Spring Practice. If you have an F for a final class grade second semester, you will be required to go to summer school or take an online class over the summer before you are allowed to play football in 2016.
SCHOOL DISCIPLINE – NO OFFICE REFERALS. Expect to be punished for Tuesday schools & OSS. In season each Tuesday School will result in a one game suspension. Each OSS will result in a minimum one game suspension. Multiple discipline infractions may result in removal from the team.
INJURIES – See the trainer before you see the Doctor for any & all injuries. If a doctor writes out a player for any number of days, then they may not participate in practice or games until the doctor clears the player in writing. This means we will need a second note from the same doctor clearing the student for full unrestricted participation. Players who are injured are required to report all injuries to the trainer and follow all rehab instructions from the trainer. We will provide the parent a list of preferred physicians. If at all possible please take your child to a sports medicine Dr. when referred by our excellent training staff. Please do not take a student to a pediatrician for an orthopedic injury. If your son’s ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder, elbow, wrist, neck or head hurts after practice they are expected to go see Coach Shuford AFTER practice. He will tell them if they need to see a doctor or if they need to miss practice. If Coach Shuford says they can practice then they are expected to practice, if he says they cannot practice or play then they cannot practice or play. DO NOT leave practice to go to the trainer with an injury unless sent there by a coach. Leaving practice to go to the training room will constitute an unexcused absence and may be reflected in a loss of playing time. Please shower after practice before going to the training room for treatment.
Social Media & Cell Phones – Refrain from negative or derogatory comments on social media about your teammates, your coaches, your opponents, or your program. Remember Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. are public venues. If you have an issue you need to discuss, your coach’s door is always open. Posting negative comments about your teammates or your program may conclude with the termination of your season. Cell Phones and Social Media are not to be used in the locker room or on the bus.
Lockers – Each JV & Varsity player will be given their own individual locker with 2 combination locks and 2 separate locking storage compartments. (Both locks will have the same combination.) It is the individual player’s personal responsibility to lock their personal belongings in their locker each and every day. If something gets missing, the first question that will be asked is was the item in your locker and was your locker locked?
Equipment – CLEATS SHOULD BE PREDOMINATELY BLACK NO NEON OR CAMO OR CRAZY PATTERNS. The only equipment a player needs to furnish themselves is their cleats, socks, extra t-shirts and shorts. We will supply replacements spikes as needed. Helmets, shoulder pads and other practice/game equipment will be furnished by the school. All helmets and shoulder pads receive yearly inspections and reconditioning by the manufacturer, Riddell, at a cost of $9,000.
Parent Support – It is our belief that having parental support is vital to a successful program. We will work very hard to keep all parents informed and maintain an open line of communication. We need your help in the following areas: concessions stand volunteers, providing post game snacks, attending booster club meetings, spreading good news about our team and individual players, lining and painting the field, contributing photos to our web site, selling program ads and corporate sponsorships. As coaches we covet your support and loyalty; however, we do not need your help with determining individuals playing time, what position someone should play or what plays to call.
- Parents must understand that there is no inherent right to play interscholastic sports and the coach alone will determine who plays and how much. Playing time is not guaranteed to any player and we do not give out participation trophies.
- Parents must understand they are entrusting the coach with their child and that the coach will act in the best interest of all the children on the team.
- Parents must understand that they are not the coach. It is not in the best interest of the team if a parent tries to coach their child from the stands between plays or during time outs.
- Parents must understand that it is inappropriate to confront a coach at any time. A parent may request a meeting or conference with any coach so long as the coach has notice 24 hours in advance. Meetings between parents and coaches will also include the student. Please feel free to schedule meetings with any of the football coaches, but also recognize it is much easier to meet during the off season (December-July) than it is to meet during the season (August-November). Do not confront coaches before or after games; regardless of score.
- Parents must understand the following are not acceptable: a) making derogatory remarks or comments about coaches, players, officials or others b) attending athletic events while intoxicated c) entering the locker room, bench area or playing field during a game or practice without the coach’s permission d) being offensive or disruptive in any manner.
- Please realize that your admittance to this venue is a privilege to observe and support this athletic event, not a license by act, word or deed to assault anyone. Please conduct yourself with character and class.
Fall Practice Times – We always have practice, it is never canceled and it is always mandatory. If the weather is bad we will practice inside. Exceptions, there will be no JV or varsity football practice on Labor Day 9-5-16 or Teacher In-service 10-10-16. Players who miss or skip practice will not dress that week nor will they travel to away games or stand on the sideline at home games. Students who do not come to school due to illness are excused from practice. Players are not to be late to practice or nor are they to leave early. Players are not permitted to miss practice to do homework or study. Part of being a student/athlete is learning time management and discipline. Once school starts we will practice from 4-6:30 pm on Monday’s & Tuesday’s, from 4-6 pm on Wednesday’s and from 4-5:30 pm on Thursday’s (varsity only).
We believe and support a student’s right to participate in activities other than football; however, from July 29, 2016 until the end of the season, football must come first. If a student is not capable of balancing good grades, football and other activities, then choose grades first. Parents may remove their son from the team at any time, but once a student is removed it is for the entire season. The head coach is the only person who may issue single or multiple game suspensions.
All students must have a physical & parent permission form on file before they will be allowed to practice. All students must have a concussion acknowledgement form on file before the first scrimmage

- ALL CARDS AND MONEY IS DUE 8:00 AM TUESDAY, MAY 17.
- ALL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO INDIAN LAND ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB or ILABC.
- SELL 2 FOR SHORTS AND A DRY FIT SHIRT.
- SELL 2 FOR EACH OL/DL CAMP.
- SELL 8 FOR NIKE CLEATS.
- SELL 10 TOTAL BY FRIDAY, MAY 13 & BE CREDITED 2 EXTRA SUMMER WORK OUTS
- SELL 15 FOR PC CAMP.
- SELL 20 TOTAL TO ENTER MONEY DRAW ON MAY 24 & RECEIVE A HOODIE.
- EXAMPLE: TO RECEIVE CLEATS & BOTH OL/DL CAMPS YOU MUST SELL 12.
Each student will be given 20 cards to sell for $20 each. This fundraiser is optional and not mandatory. All monies are non-refundable. Cleats, shirts & shorts will be delivered by Aug. 1, hoodies by Sept. 1.
