Warriors Overcomes Carolina Forest In Face Of Early 6-Run Inning
Warriors weathered a push by Carolina Forest in the sixth inning where Warriors coughed up six runs, but Warriors still won 9-6 on Thursday. Carolina Forest’s big inning was driven by doubles by Chase Hughes and Jackson Weatherwax, a home run by JT Rice, and a groundout by Derek Rogers.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Warriors collected eight hits and Carolina Forest had six.
Warriors opened up scoring in the first inning, when James Mulvaney homered on a 0-1 count, scoring four runs.
Nolan Bolt was the winning pitcher for Warriors. He surrendered one run on one hit over five and a third innings, striking out 11. Wes Barfield, Daniel Gueldner, and Zack Webb all put in work on the pitcher’s mound in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Gueldner recorded the last out to earn the save for Warriors.
Asher Sanboeuf took the loss for Carolina Forest. He went two innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out three.
Trey Boyd led Warriors with three hits in three at bats. Connor Ouimet led Warriors with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.
Weatherwax went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Carolina Forest in hits.
